Slower is Better
At FIT Medical Weight Loss we know how exciting it can be to start a diet program, and along with this excitement can come lofty expectations of rapid weight loss. Doctors agree that a weekly weight loss of one-half to three pounds per week is appropriate and safe. Furthermore, sustained weight loss that is too rapid and unhealthy can have the tendency to come right back when you loosen the restraints of your diet.
Everyone is Different
At FIT Medical Weight Loss we have seen weight loss at all different rates. Some patients lose weight consistently from week to week like clockwork, while other patients weight loss seems to be more sporadic and they lose the weight in larger chunks one week and smaller the next.

Remember that not only are our bodies different but our lifestyles are as well; previous exercise levels, muscle mass, activity levels and exercise are all aspects that can alter people’s weight loss. Thirty pounds may take one person 2 months to lose and another person 3.5 months. It can be frustrating in this case, but the most important thing is losing the weight and returning to an overall healthier state. However long the journey may take, know that you are improving your health and way of life.
Eating Less Isn’t Always Better
For some of our patients who are used to “Fad Diets,” it can be tough to eat all the food needed to lose weight properly. Yes that’s right, you must eat ENOUGH to lose weight. Not eating enough food or not giving your body the proper nutrition can cause your body to enter starvation mode and turn down your metabolism as a preservation method, thereby decreasing the amount of calories burned and telling your body to conserve instead of burn.
