When it comes to exercise or dieting try to refrain from thinking “I have to” and start thinking “I need to”; this keeps you focused on your initial motivation as to why and not on the results.
When you are changing your diet make an attempt to avoid the “have to” approach because you will only eat so many salads before you stop caring that your Doctor wants you to eat more salads and less carbs. You eventually get to the point where your desire to eat unhealthy foods overrules your doctors opinion. However, if your motivation for eating healthier is to reduce dangerous visceral fat and improve your internal health then your desire to achieve health will stand stronger in the face of your cravings.
