But adding exercise to our daily routine does not have to be that complicated or time-consuming. Regardless of our age or fitness level, there are plenty of simple exercises we can try to maximize our movement.

1. Park further away
Don’t grab the nearest parking spot to the door, but opt for the one furthest away. It may only be an extra minute or two but it all adds up over time. Whether you are going to work, the grocery store or the mall, this one is simple to do.
2. Walk up the stairs
Rather than use the escalator or the elevator, take the stairs. Go slow at first and limit the number of flights. If you need to get to the fifth floor, then walk up two flights of stairs. Once it becomes second nature, increase the number bit by bit. Don’t forget to take the stairs on the way down.
3. Enjoy a family walk
Why not add a family walk to your routine? It is very motivating and more fun when you exercise with others. Get the whole family healthier by enjoying a gentle stroll around the block. It is a great way to catch up with each other and get fit at the same time.
4. Tackle some yard work
You know when you have been working in the garden. You can feel every muscle in your body, and even some you didn’t even know you had! Weeding the garden, planting, mowing the lawn - it all adds up to some serious exercise time.
5. Meet up with friends outdoors
Weather permitting, instead of meeting with your friends over coffee, plan park dates so you can walk together, play a simple ball game or toss a Frisbee around. These activities will allow you to enjoy the best nature has to offer and incorporate some activity to those much-needed get-togethers.
