However, many people find that one of the hardest parts of establishing a regular workout routine is starting one. This may be especially true if you’re just getting started out as a beginner or haven’t worked out in a while. And, even when you’re an exercise newbie, you’ll lose weight when you include workouts with a healthy, balanced diet plan. In her article for About.com, Easy Workouts for Beginners, weight loss expert Malia Frey states:

The type of exercise you choose to do is less important than the consistency of your program.

It's true that when you choose exercise that you like, then you’re more likely to stick with it.

 

Here are a few quick and easy workout ideas if you're just getting started with exercising:

 

1. Walking

When the weather is nice, put your sneakers on and take a walk. Start walking at a pace that’s comfortable for you, and gradually work up to a 30-minute session.

2. Aqua Jogging

If you suffer from joint pain or just like working out in the pool better than on dry land, then aqua jogging may be the best workout for you.  If you have a blue belt that keeps your upper body afloat, just walk in the water without letting your feet touch the bottom. If you don’t have a belt, you can simply walk in the water with your feet on the pool’s bottom.

3. Biking

Did you have fun riding a bike as a kid? If so, then you’ll be glad to know that it’s just as much fun when you’re a grownup. You can easily convert your fun bike ride into a 20-30 minute exercise routine by taking a spin around your neighborhood or finding a nice bike path.

4. Dancing

All you need for this fun exercise routine is your favorite heart-pumping tunes and 15 minutes to groove to the music!
