Why Starvation Dieting Doesn't Work
The road to losing weight can be frustrating, but not eating is taking it to the extreme, and actually makes losing weight much more difficult. In order to lose weight, you need to eat. Restricting your body of food will backfire quickly, and there are three main reasons why this is so.
Your Metabolism begins to slow down.
Starvation will cause your body to believe that it must conserve what little it is given by going into survival mode. Your body reacts to the reduction in calories by storing fat. You will burn fewer calories throughout the day, and stop losing weight because your fat burning mechanism gets shut down to preserve energy resources. This is even more so for those you are active or exercising.

When on a weight loss diet, you do need to reduce the number of calories you intake, but if reduced too much, your body will begin to slow down in order to conserve needed energy. Keeping yourself fed properly will result in the body being able to burn more calories and fat stores more freely.
Say Goodbye to Lean Muscle Mass, and that’s bad.
Your metabolic rate is higher when your body has more lean muscle mass. Ladies, isn't it frustrating that men seem to be able to eat far more calories than females? One of the reasons for this is because men have more lean muscle tissue than women do. In losing lean muscle mass you are losing a major calorie burning tissue. Lean Muscle burns more calories than fat and when you are trying to lose weight, you want to burn as many calories as possible by keeping the lean muscle mass you have and incorporating moderate exercise to increase lean muscle so that you also increase your basil metabolic rate.
Why can I only think about food, all day long?
You will begin to obsess over food if you starve yourself as a way to lose weight. Even if you are already one that obsesses over food, think about how much that will intensify if you completely cut off your body from eating or only eating a couple hundred calories. When you deprive yourself of calories, your brain automatically seeks out the highest calorie food available. Once the obsession begins, the cravings will become extremely intense, causing you to eat everything in sight and normally ingest more calories in one sitting than you would have consumed in a day had you eaten properly.
