4 Benefits of Regular Exercise

The mere thought of exercising makes many people cringe. Your doctors and/or other health professionals probably encourage you to exercise regularly - either to help you lose weight, to stay healthy, or both. However, you may still need motivation. Perhaps you think it's going to be too hard, or that it requires too much time to exercise regularly. As it turns out, including regular exercise within your daily routine can be quite easy, and doesn't require as much time as you might think.

It's important to know that contrary to what many of us hear and believe, exercise alone does not typically help with weight loss. In fact, exerting yourself during exercise tends to increase your hunger. Without using an appetite suppressant or diligently following a controlled diet plan, you could easily end up eating more calories than you burned off during your workout. Instead, consider a moderate exercise goal where you work out 30-45 minutes, three times a week, during your weight loss phase.

Even though regular exercise alone does not contribute to significant weight loss, it does provide plenty of other benefits to improve your health and life. With that being said, you'll want to incorporate it into your lifestyle. 

1) Regular exercise helps reduce your risk of diseases and health conditions

Being physically active improves your cardiovascular health, therefore reducing your chances of heart disease and high blood pressure. Studies also show how regular exercise helps prevent and/or manage other diseases and conditions such as asthma, stroke, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, osteoporosis, and arthritis.

How does a good night's sleep sound? Getting adequate sleep is important for many reasons, and it even plays a role in weight loss. If you're sleep-deprived, you'll be glad to know that regular exercise helps you fall asleep more easily and promotes a deeper sleep.

You probably know by now that exercise promotes toning for your muscles. This is especially helpful and welcome when you're losing weight. Regular exercise also helps you stay in shape by giving you and your body more endurance, increased flexibility, and a higher metabolism.  

 

The type of exercise you choose is up to you. Know that it doesn't have to be complicated or time-consuming. Find an exercise routine that you enjoy. By doing so, you'll find that regular exercise is not only fun, but is also much easier to stick with over the long haul.
