If you struggle to find time in your routine for exercise, there are simple stretches and movements that can be done at home or your office, without taking too much time out of your schedule. Even if you feel you need a quick break and want to get your body moving, these exercises can be done to stretch the body and relieve some tension. You can do them all together or just take a moment here and there to get the blood flowing.
Arm Chair Stretches
In order to counteract your body slumping in front of the computer, simple stretches can be particularly helpful. Stretch both hands up in the air and then fold your body down. Repeat five times. Place your right arm in the air and stretch it towards your left side to really open up the space between your waist and chest area. Then raise the left arm into the air and stretch it towards to the right side of your body. Repeat five times on each side.

Leg Chair Stretches
Exercising your legs, even while sitting in your chair can be beneficial. Sit in a hard backed non-swivel chair, hold your abdominal muscles in tight and straighten your right leg out so it is parallel with your hip. Hold for 5 seconds. Repeat five times. Then repeat on your left leg. Now raise both legs together and hold for 5 seconds. Repeat this exercise for five times.
Wall Chair Stretches
All you need for this exercise is a wall. Stand up straight with your back flat against the wall. Now slide your back down the wall as you walk both feet away from your body. Once you are sitting position with your legs in a 90-degree position and your back against the wall, hold for one minute. This exercise is great for the quadriceps and glutes.
Neck and Shoulder Stretches
Your neck and shoulder area can get quite tight from sitting in the same position every day. Move your neck to the right and stretch very gently. Repeat on the left side. Avoid rotating the neck area as it is particularly susceptible to injury. Now shrug your shoulders up towards your ears. Hold for five seconds and repeat.
It is amazing how many exercises you can fit into the course of your day. Remember, even little effort such as parking further away from your destination or choosing to walk up the stairs will all help increase your fitness and keep your body moving.
