Here are three areas where you can start making immediate changes and start looking and feeling healthier right away:

 

1. Making healthy food choices 

In the United States, we have plenty of alternatives when it comes to the food. Unfortunately, most of these are unhealthy food choices and we pick them because they are often the most convenient. This is especially true for those of us who live busy, hectic lifestyles and prefer take-out to cooking. 

However, people who cut out fast food, soda and refined sugar report benefits such as healthier weight, better moods, and even improved memory and better decision-making.

2. Maintaining a healthy weight

This area goes hand-in-hand with the one above. In other words, eating the right types of foods in the right amounts, helps you achieve and maintain a healthy weight – all without having to make any drastic dietary changes.

If you need to lose weight, you can start out by preparing and eating balanced menus that include healthier foods which are lower in calories and contain fewer carbohydrates (carbs). We all need a diet with a good balance of protein, fat, fiber, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals to sustain a healthy body.

A balanced diet can also help prevent excessive cravings for sweets and other unhealthy foods which can also pack on the pounds. 

3. Exercising regularly

Many of us cringe at the idea of working out. However, exercise includes a wide variety of physical activities that results in burning calories – including gardening, walking, or playing catch with your kids! Of course, there are the other ways of exercising we often think of – jogging, swimming, yoga, treadmill, Pilates, etc.

Regardless of how you choose to exercise, the most important thing is to start. Physical activity is essential for improving your overall health and wellness.
