Having stronger thighs also reduces the risk of injuries to your knee and hip joints.
Thigh-toning exercises do not have to be difficult to be effective. These exercises are easy and convenient. As well, they require no special equipment and can be done at home for just a few minutes a day.

Try these exercises for firmer, fitter thighs:
Splits
This exercise tones your adductors, or inner thighs.
On a smooth surface, start by standing straight. While holding the back of a sturdy chair or countertop with both hands if needed for balance, let your legs slowly slide out sideways while keeping your back straight. Continue letting your legs slide apart as far as you can comfortably manage, then hold that position for 10 seconds. Bring your legs back up until you are standing up straight again, then repeat the split, 3-5 times in all. The goal is to eventually make it all the way to the floor so your inner thighs rest horizontally. But no worries, it takes most people a while to get to that point.
Standing Leg Lifts/Lateral Leg Raises
This exercise tones your outer thighs. An added benefit - this exercise also helps tone the oblique muscles along the sides of your abdomen.
Start by standing straight. Again, you can use something sturdy for keeping your balance, but with one hand at a time for this exercise. While standing on one leg, lift the other sideways into the air until parallel with the ground, then bring back down to rest, all with controlled motions. Repeat on the same leg for a total of 20 repetitions. Then change legs and repeat the same movements for the other leg.
Squeezing
This one is super simple and works incredibly well for toning your inner thighs.
On a comfortable surface, lie down on your back with your knees bent, bringing your heels towards your bottom. Next, place any kind of firm object which fits between your thighs and hold it between your inner thighs. Then squeeze your inner thighs against the object, bringing them closer together. Continue squeezing for a couple of seconds, then relax without letting go of the object. Repeat the exercise 20 times.
Side Leg Lifts
Another easy exercise for toning your outer thighs
On a firm rug or exercise mat (or even a carpeted floor), lie down sideways, stretch your arm out flat, above your head, and rest your head against your upper arm. Make sure your body, from your shoulder to your foot on the one side, remain flat against the floor. Next, with your free hand on your other hip, lift your top leg as high as possible while keeping your bottom leg pressed against the floor. It may help to bend the resting knee, but only slightly. Without stopping at the top, bring the top leg back down, but do not let it touch the bottom leg yet. Lifting and lowering your leg should be done with a controlled and fluid motion, continuously, for a total of one minute. Change sides and repeat with your other leg.
