Sugars are hiding everywhere! Did you know that sugars can be found in the foods that you enjoy every day? We all know to avoids sugary sodas and candies, but there are just as many foods out there that you may not know about. Here's a list of 8 different places that sugars may hide.
- Pasta Sauce. Sugars are often used to balance out the acidity found in marinara and alfredo sauces.
- Yogurt. Thankfully, the ones that are lighter in sugar are generally advertised as much, but make sure you check the sugar content before indulging.
- Salad dressing. Don't ruin a perfectly healthy salad with a sugary dressing! Some of the best salad options can be made from scratch at home, which helps control sugar.
- Canned Fruits. Eating fresh fruit is always a better tasting and overall healthier option.
- Cereal. Many of the cereals that are advertised as "healthy" breakfast options are still filled with sugar. Make sure to read the label before buying a box of cereal.
- Applesauce. Sugar-free applesauce is surprisingly bland - often times, sugars are added to sweeten things up.
- Artisan breads. Artisan breads are delicious - sometimes due to the added sugar. Keep this in mind and limit the intake.
- Juice. Fruit juices seem like they should be healthy indulgences, but are often sweetened by sugar.
