As the weather turns chilly, it is hard to motivate yourself to keep to your exercise regime. If you get up early to exercise, it’s dark and cold and the last thing you feel like doing when you come home from work, is heading outside again. It’s not all doom and gloom, however. You can add some fun back into your routine during winter with these ideas. Getting fit and staying fit is now easier than ever!
Rock climbing
If you aren’t one to brace the outdoors during winter, then consider an indoor climbing wall. It gives you an excellent workout and exercises your arms, legs, back and shoulders. And when you do it with friends, you have someone to keep you motivated until you get to the top.

Ice Skating
It might have been a while since you skated on ice, but it’s not too late to get back out there and do it. It is great for toning up your legs, and it is wonderful for coordination and balance. It’s an ideal form of exercise for the young and old – the more the merrier, in fact.
Trampolining
Trampolining is in vogue at the moment, and it will quickly make you feel like a kid again. It is a perfect way to exercise those legs, and gives you a good cardio workout. And you can even bring the kids or the grandkids along too.
Zumba
If you are looking for a workout but don’t like being restricted to aerobics classes or yoga, then consider Zumba. It is a Latin-inspired workout that is more of a dance than an exercise program. You won’t leave this class without a smile on your face.
Spin Class
While bike riding in winter is not fun, you can mix it up with an indoor spin class instead. A spin class will ensure that you stay fit during the colder months, and as soon as that ice thaws and spring appears, you can get back out on your bike again. And the best bit, you don’t even need to bring your helmet.
Play in the Snow
When was the last time you played in the snow? Had a snowball fight? Built a snowman? If you can’t remember, or even if you can, getting outdoors and embracing winter will ensure you stay fit and healthy. You will burn plenty of calories by exercising outdoors and enjoying the fruits of mother nature.
Go Swimming
Swimming in winter may sound odd, but it is a wonderful way to exercise your entire body, both your upper and lower body. Lap swimming at your leisure is recommended to stay in shape and focus on your breathing. It is also a beneficial way to relieve stress after a busy day.
You don’t have to stop exercising during the winter months just because the temperature has dropped. As you can see, there are many fun ways to keep moving. Regular and consistent exercise will also motivate you to eat healthily and continue on your weight loss or maintenance program.
What’s your favorite form of winter exercise?
