Many diets are ruined by poor planning. The best way to avoid being impulsive on the food choices that you make is to have a plan in place. Here are four of our favorite tips for effective meal planning.

Pick quick, easy meals. Nothing is worse than getting home from a long day at work and having to spend hours working on dinner. Plan meals that are easy to prepare and won't take long to make.

Stock your freezer. Load up that freezer with plenty of frozen veggies and other healthy goods. Having these on hand and ready to go makes cooking your dinners much simpler.

Have backup meals ready. Having your dinner not turn out as originally planned can be frustrating. Have a backup meal always available to fall back on when the original plan falls through.

Involve your cohabitants in meal planning. Eating alone isn't fun, and planning alone isn't either. Planning meals together with the people that you live with makes the process a lot more enjoyable.
