They want to see their six-pack abs! We have talked previously in our blog on why working out does not help you to lose weight but lets touch on that point again briefly. Most people over estimate the number of calories they have burned in a workout. There are many websites you can visit that will allow you to estimate the calories burned, just Google calories burned estimator. I know it may feel like you are working out at the level of an Iron Man athlete but most of us don’t maximize our workouts to that level. Be honest with where you are in the level of intensity of your workouts in order to get an accurate estimate on the calories burned.
Why is it so important to adequately estimate your intensity and therefore the calories burned? Working out makes us hungry, which is why it is so hard to workout and lose weight. And if we work out for half to one hour moderately we will have only burned 150-300 calories. Because working out makes us so hungry we tend to overeat the next 1-3 days replacing more calories than those actual calories burned by our workout. Keep in mind toast with butter on it is about 150 calories so it does not take many calories added back in to wipe out the benefits of the exercise performed.
We all have a nice set of abs but in order to see them you must melt away the layers of fat that are covering them up. The only way to do this is to reduce the amount of food you eat not more hours at the gym. We have had many, many folks on our weight loss program lose the same amount of weight in the same amount of time with one working out 3-5 times a week and the other not working out except the occasional walk. When it is weight loss you want it is 100% what you put in your mouth that makes the difference.
Your work out will help you to look better once you have lost the extra pounds along with the many other health benefit of exercising.We are sorry to say unless you change the way you eat the fat will hide those good-looking muscles.
