If you picked up any one of the weight loss magazines at your local grocery store, you would be forgiven for thinking that starving yourself and weight loss goes hand in hand. At FIT Medical Weight Loss, we are living proof that this is not actually the case, particularly if you want to achieve long-term weight loss and do away with yo-yo dieting forever.
If you eat purposefully while trying to lose weight, then you set yourself up for a win. Starving yourself or depriving yourself of a meal will just mean that the next choice you make in terms of a snack or pick me up may be laden with carbs and sugar, and that is what you are trying to avoid. And while that chocolate bar or bag of chips may be satisfying from your position of hunger, the reality is you will be craving more food after that.

If you are hungry, one of the first things we advise our clients to do is to drink water. It is easy to confuse dehydration with hunger so making sure that you have had your necessary fill of water is important. Then while you are mindfully sipping on your water, think about what will nourish your body and your soul and fill you up for longer. Choose that as your next go-to meal.
It is important to remember that you are in control of everything that goes into your belly and a healthy mindset is necessary to continue with your weight loss program. As we have qualified staff on hand to answer any questions you might have about the program, and keep you motivated, it is hard to go wrong.
Eat to be satisfied and do away with the guilt. By making better choices for you and your family, you will ensure that you don’t fall into any nasty diet habits. Starving your body will just mean that it is harder to get rid of those unwanted fat stores – so the healthier you eat and the more regularly you eat, then the better your metabolism will be.
Here are some more healthy tips you can take on board.
Don’t skip your meals
Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, skipping meals is never a good idea. Most of us are guilty of skipping breakfast occasionally, and the reality is it is never a good idea to start the day when your energy reserves are running on empty. Come mid-morning, you will be craving that high sugar high-calorie snack to get you over the finish line.
Banish the soda
One sip of soda and you will be soon craving that sugary sweetness on a regular basis. If you must drink soda, then make sure it is a no-calorie variety that you keep in the fridge. As a high sugar diet can lead to heart disease, diabetes, and weight gain, it is best always to say no. While you may wish to compromise on other things, it is best to refrain from anything that comes from a vending machine unless it is bottled water.
Keep healthy snacks close
Hunger sometimes arrives when you least expect so in order to be ready, keep healthy snacks full of protein and vegetables relatively handy. In doing so, you have an excuse to say no to those unwanted refueling stops at work, particularly when they don’t have your healthy lifestyle and weight loss goals in mind.
