You’ve probably heard that inflammation is “bad”—but that’s only half the story. Inflammation is your body’s natural defense system. When you’re injured or sick, it kicks in to help you heal. The problem? When that system stays stuck in overdrive, it starts causing more harm than good.

What Is Inflammation, Really?

There are two types:

  • Acute inflammation: Short-term, helpful. Like swelling after a sprained ankle.

  • Chronic inflammation: Long-term, low-grade. This is the kind linked to obesity, heart disease, diabetes, fatigue, joint pain, and more.

Many people walk around with chronic inflammation and don’t even know it. That’s where lifestyle comes in.

Signs You Might Be Inflamed

  • Brain fog

  • Low energy

  • Digestive issues

  • Stubborn weight

  • Skin breakouts

  • Joint stiffness

How to Reduce Inflammation Naturally

1. Cut Ultra-Processed Foods
Refined carbs, sugary snacks, fried foods—these drive inflammation hard. Focus on real, whole foods: vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats.

2. Load Up on Anti-Inflammatory Staples

  • Fatty fish (salmon, sardines)

  • Leafy greens (spinach, kale)

  • Berries

  • Olive oil

  • Turmeric

  • Green tea

3. Move Your Body Daily
You don’t need to crush HIIT every day. Just walk, stretch, or lift something. Movement clears out inflammatory markers and boosts your immune system.

4. Manage Stress
Chronic stress = chronic inflammation. Use breathwork, journaling, nature walks, or whatever calms your system.

5. Get Real Sleep
Poor sleep can make inflammation worse. Aim for 7–8 hours a night, and create a consistent wind-down routine.
